The Lyric Theatre and The Treasure Coast Concert Association Announce Partnership to Produce the Ovation Concert Series!

The boards of directors of The Lyric Theatre and the Treasure Coast Concert Association (TCCA) are pleased to announce that TCCA’s acclaimed Ovation Concert Series will become part of the Lyric family of performances, beginning with the 2008-09 season.

The Ovation Concert Series brings world-renowned classical music performers to the Lyric stage each season.  The series will remain under the artistic directorship of Ernie Berlin, who has led TCCA for the past 10 years, but it will now be presented under the auspices of the Lyric Theatre.

Plans are also underway for the expansion of the Ovation Concert Educational Outreach Program.  Further details on the program will be released at a future date.

“The community will benefit from this partnership and the work we can do together,” said Berlin.  “We want to offer even more cultural entertainment, and bring the Lyric up to the level of a Carnegie Hall.”  Berlin is particularly enthusiastic about the expansion of the educational outreach program.  “We want to expose our students to a caliber of artist they would never typically encounter outside of a large metropolitan area,” said Berlin.

Ethel Christin, president of the Lyric Theatre’s board of directors, echoes these sentiments.  “The integration of TCCA’s Ovation Concert Series into the Lyric organization is a win-win for everyone,” she said.  “I am very proud of the growth, success and community acceptance of the Lyric over the past several years.  Now, through this new partnership, we will offer a full spectrum of arts programming.  TCCA has done a wonderful job in building this series; we will retain and build upon the integrity and quality of their performances.”

The 2008-09 Ovation Concert Series will feature tenor Salvatore Licitra, violinist Joshua Bell, pianist Garrick Ohlsson and soprano Maria Guleghina.  Season subscriptions are now on sale at the Lyric Theatre box office; tickets for individual performances will be available beginning September 2, 2008.
