Rex Lewis-Clack, musical savant from 60 Minutes
Astounding musical savant Rex Lewis-Clack, and his mother, Cathleen Lewis, will appear at the Lyric Theatre on Sunday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets, which are $38 and $33, are on sale now to Lyric members; sales to the general public will open on December 15.
Rex was born 13 years ago, blind and with brain damage so severe that his mother was told he might never walk or talk. But on his second birthday, when his father bought him a keyboard, Rex’s incredible musical gift made itself known. One of only a handful of musical savants in the world, Rex shares a mysterious combination of blindness, mental disability and musical genius.
Through his exploration of music, Rex was able to expand his world; today he walks, talks, studies music, performs nationwide and abroad, and continues to defy the grim predictions of his early childhood. His extraordinary talent and exuberance for music create an unforgettable and inspirational performance.
The Lyric show will feature an introduction of Rex’s life by Cathleen Lewis and a piano concert by Rex. Tickets for the show are on sale via the Lyric web site at www.lyrictheatre.com, or by calling the Lyric Theatre box office at 772-286-7827.
