“THE NESTOR TORRES INITIATIVE” COMES TO MARTIN COUNTY THIS FALL
The Lyric Theatre and the Education Foundation of Martin County have partnered to establish an Artist Residency Program that provides educational opportunities to students and teachers throughout Martin County. On October 5, the program is scheduled to debut with “The Nestor Torres Initiative” - a weeklong residency with the Grammy award winning Latin Jazz artist Nestor Torres. Students and teachers from Warfield Elementary, Palm City Elementary, Challenger School, Hidden Oaks Middle School, Jensen Beach High School, and The Pine School Upper and Lower Schools are scheduled to participate in this initial project. The week will culminate with a public concert at the Lyric Theatre scheduled for Friday, October 9th, at 7 p.m. This concert will include select students who will have worked with Mr. Torres throughout the week.
“We are excited to be partnering with the Education Foundation of Martin County, working to bring major artists like Nestor Torres directly into the schools to work with both music educators and students. It is our goal to motivate and educate as many of our children as we can by having them work directly with the artists,” said John Loesser, Executive Director of The Lyric Theatre.
“This collaborative effort is allowing us to provide a one-of-a-kind educational opportunity by infusing exceptional talent into the educational experience. We are so fortunate to be working with John and his team,” stated Lisa Rhodes, Executive Director of the Education Foundation of Martin County.
