Twenty-seven years ago, a group of Senate staffers set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them.  The result was The Capitol Steps, an irreverent and endlessly entertaining troupe that has since become an institution in political humor (not to mention an annual favorite at the Lyric).

Through skits and song parodies, the Capitol Steps take unerring and unforgiving aim on all politicians, regardless of party affiliation.  Call it equal opportunity satire.  Anyone who has seen the Capitol Steps will tell you that every show is as fresh as today’s headlines.   They’ll leave you rolling on both sides of the aisle!

The Lyric Theatre is the home of theater and Performing Arts for Florida's Treasure Coast since 1926. Located in business center of historic Downtown Stuart, FL, the theater is the Arts and Entertainment destination of the Treasure Coast. A historic, fully renovated indoor venue with excellent acoustics offering live entertainment, music, comedy, and plays. Thanks to our supporters and grants from Martin County, the preservation of the Lyric Theatre as a Performing Arts Center continues for the cultural benefit of the Treasure Coast. The Lyric is also a rental facility, hosting a variety of musical theater and local productions, and civic and charitable events. For music, concerts, comedy, musicals, drama, dance, and family fun... it's all at the Lyric!
