The Lyric Theatre Presents

Chad Hoopes

At age 14, Chad Hoopes already possesses the kind of technical mastery, ease of expression and joyful talent that comes along only once in a generation.

In April 2008, Hoopes took first prize in the Young Artists Division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition.  He has performed with the Orchestra of the Yehudi Menuhin School and numerous ensembles throughout the United States and the world, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Orchestra of the Welsh National Opera, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Pops, South Dakota Symphony and Erie Philharmonic.
Beyond the concert hall, Hoopes’ virtuosity and exuberant personality have been featured on the CBS Early Show, National Public Radio, NBC affiliate station WKYC (Cleveland) and PBS's From the Top: Live at Carnegie Hall.  He was also featured in an Emmy Award-winning television commercial for the Cleveland Indians in 2007.

Hoopes began violin lessons at the age of four, and currently studies with David Cerone at the Cleveland Institute of Music and David Russell. In addition to his solo engagements, he performs with his sisters Anna and Alexandra as part of the “Playing Hoopes Trio.”  They appeared live on From the Top in 2007 and have been featured on WCLV radio as well as WVIZ and PBS television.
