The Irish Rovers

The Irish Rovers have charmed and entertained audiences worldwide for over 40 years with their rollicking good-time blend of ballads, drinking songs and family stories.  These international emissaries of Irish music are sure to have you clapping and singing along!

Best known for their 1968 hit and signature song, “The Unicorn,” the Irish Rovers soared to the top of the charts again in the 80s with “Wasn’t That A Party,” an international anthem of good cheer.  In 1982, the group recorded the novelty tune, “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer,” which has proven to be an enduring seasonal hit.

The Rovers, whose members had emigrated to Canada from various parts of Ireland,  were founded in Toronto in 1963, and eventually moved to the United States.  They quickly became part of the then-booming folk revival scene, adding their Irish roots to the mix.  In a stint at San Francisco’s famed folk club, The Purple Onion, the Rovers sold out for an unprecedented 22 weeks.

The Irish Rovers continue to perform in theaters around the world, with original members George Millar, Joe Millar and Wilcil McDowell.  Like the unicorn, the Rovers are legendary and magical, and their rousing performances are a guaranteed good time for all!
