The Lyric Theatre Presents

Project Trio

This is definitely not your grandparents’ classical music.  Or is it?  Prepare to experience the classics in a whole new way when Project Trio takes the stage.

Project Trio’s musicians, Greg Pattillo (flute), Eric Stephenson (cello) and Peter Seymour (bass) honed their craft as students at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and have a collective professional resume that includes stints with the Houston Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra.  But together they create a decidedly different take on the classics – one Seymour describes as “high octane chamber music.”

“We have a sound completely unique to ourselves,” says Seymour.  “This comes not only from the instrumentation of flute, cello and bass, but also from our love of diverse genres of music.  We’re a fusion of classical, jazz, rock, hip-hop, salsa, folk and everything in between.”

The Trio played together in college, but after graduation their careers took them in separate directions.  Along the way, Pattillo posted videos showcasing his unique “beatbox flute” technique on YouTube, which led to over 20 million hits and caused The New York Times to proclaim him as “the best person in the world at what he does.”

The breakout success of the videos inspired the Trio to reunite and bring their distinctive fusion of musical genres to communities throughout the country.  A major part of their mission is educational outreach, and they will be doing just that during their stay on the Treasure Coast.

Whatever your age, whatever your musical preference, we guarantee that you’ll be dazzled with this virtuosic tour de force.
