Returning for another fiery performance, Ana Popovic is a force to be reckoned with. Called "one helluva guitar-player" by Bruce Springsteen, the blues musician is known for her soulful blend of slide guitar and electric funk. This year, Popovic received her 6th nomination at the Blues Music Awards and toured as part of the all-star Experience Hendrix lineup, a nationwide tour celebrating the music of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

Ana Popovic took an early interest in the world of music. Born in Belgrade in 1976, Popovic picked up the guitar at age 15. Encouraged by her father to play the blues, the aspiring guitarist and singer made waves in her local music scene, impressing music teachers and fellow artists with her innate skills. By 1995, Ana Popovic had formed her first band, an R&B group called Hush, but the group broke up by 1998 and Popovic traveled to the Netherlands to study jazz guitar. Shortly after, the Ana Popovic Band was formed and the Serbian blues guitarist started to attract international attention. Popovic' albums Still Making History and Blind for Love both reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Blues chart.

In May of last year, Ana Popovic released her latest album Trilogy. An ambitious project, Trilogy features 23 jazz, funk, and blues recordings on 3 separate CDs. Featured on the album are Robert Randolph, Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), rapper Al Capone, and Joe Bonamassa. The album was named one of Amazon's Top 10 Best Blues Albums and is one of the best-selling blues albums on the Billboard charts.

Popovic's intense touring schedule takes her around the world to venues big and small. Endorsed by Fender, D'Angelico, and Jim Dunlop, Ana Popovic has shared the stage with legends like BB King, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr. and others. This year, Popovic will return to The Lyric Theatre for another unforgettable performance.
