If you know country, you know Billy Dean. Since he entered the music scene in the 1990s, Dean’s insightful song writing, clear and distinctive voice and instrumental mastery have earned him numerous awards and countless devoted fans.
Dean got his first break when he won the television competition “Star Search.” Publishing and recording contracts soon followed. He scored a top-five country hit with his first single, “Only Here for a Little While.” His follow-up recording, “Somewhere in My Broken Heart,” proved to be another top-five winner for Dean, also earning him the Academy of Country Music’s awards for Songwriter of the Year and New Male Vocalist of the Year.
Throughout his career, Dean has placed more than 20 hit singles on the Billboard country charts and eleven in the top 10, including “If There Hadn’t Been You” and “Tryin’ to Hide a Fire in the Dark.” In 2000, he and Alison Krauss made guest appearances on Kenny Rogers’ single, “Buy Me a Rose,” which topped the Billboard country charts and crossed over to became a top 40 hit.
