Who says classical music can’t be cool? Ahn Trio’s fusion of various mediums, genres, and cultures give the classical genre a much-needed revitalization. By covering pieces by Dvorak and David Bowie in the same performance, The Ahn Trio captures the attention of adults and kids alike, introducing classical music to a new audience.
Originally born in Korea, the Ahn sisters moved to New York City in 1981 to train at the world famous Juilliard School. While attending their classes in New York, the girls decided that they would combine their talents and form a trio that contemporized classical music in a way that anybody could relate to. Famous for their original, genre-crossing style of music, Ahn Trio has received wide international recognition for their efforts to define their own style and inspire aspiring artists through their celebration of classical music.
Ahn Trio strives to dissolve barriers between art forms, incorporating their unique style of music with the work of various dancers, DJs, pop singers, installation artists, photographers and others to create a complete blend of mediums that both entertain and educate. Included in People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People,” the Ahn sisters have received remarkable critical and popular attention from around the world. Under this spotlight, the trio hopes to educate the general population in the relevance of classical music and revolutionize the genre to help appeal to a new generation of musicians.
