Spending an evening with Steve Solomon is like being with a dear, funny friend and dozens of your own hilarious friends and eccentric family members. Steve has taken the art of impersonation and honed it to a science. He weaves different dialects and crazy characters into his stories and the tales take on a life of their own as Steve recounts memorable moments and gives his unique take on timely topics.

A Brooklyn native, Steve grew up in the multi-ethnic neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay. It was the perfect training ground for learning dialects. As the class clown and a very authentic sounding Chinese restaurant delivery boy, Steve learned at an early age how to use his gift for mimicry to his advantage. He also realized that he was a prolific writer of jokes, and blinded by the glamor of show biz, he submitted stories to periodicals, friends and stand-up comics he knew in the business.

Steve’s three-award-winning show, “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy” became one of the longest-running one-man shows in Broadway history. His other shows include the popular “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m Home for the Holidays” and a new show, “Cannoli, Latkes & Guilt…The Therapy Continues.” Each highlights the best of his talents as a comedy writer and performer as, once again, we meet the people we’re all too familiar with: the family members that make you remember why you left home in the first place.

This time, however, we get to see greater nuances into the personalities of the dozens of characters we’ll meet along the way. Their personalities, or lack thereof, their feeding habits and their instinctive ability to turn joy into relentless but hysterical chaos makes an evening with Steve Solomon a laugh fest from start to finish. It’s a celebration of everybody you know, have known and want to forget, but can’t, all brought to life on stage by the comedic magic of Steve Solomon.

Steve’s shows have received critical acclaim, including The Connecticut Critics Circle and The San Francisco Drama Desk nominations and Broadway.com’s “Best New off-Broadway Play.” His new book, Political Correctness and Other Forms of Insanity has just come out in paperback and the theatrical version of the book will open next year. A screenplay is currently in development.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back home for the holidays, Steve brings us his masterpiece of family dysfunction. Prepare to laugh, cry and be delighted with someone else’s family dysfunction.

Come. Enjoy. It’s less expensive than therapy and less fattening than chocolate.
