An Evening with Burt Reynolds ~ Part Deux

Film idol and legend Burt Reynolds returns to the Lyric Theatre for an intimate evening of insider stories and fond memories from a man whose multi-decade acting career has cemented him as one of the most famous movie stars of all time. Hear Burt speak openly about his experiences over the years, from his award-winning work on films such as Smokey and the Bandit and Boogie Nights to his Emmy-winning work on television. The night will include personal photos, film clips, and never-before-heard stories from the Jupiter resident and international sensation.

The Lansing, Michigan native boasts over 5 decades of acting experience, beginning during his college career at Florida State University. The young star quarterback was encouraged to audition for the play Outward Bound, produced by one of Reynold’s teachers and mentors. Burt Reynolds’ performance was extremely well received, earning him the 1956 Florida State Drama Award. The rest is history as Burt slowly began involving himself in the industry, performing in small plays and musicals up north until he finally made his Broadway debut starring in Look, We’ve Come Through. Burt then moved on to feature film roles, breaking out with his role in the 1972 film Deliverance. Reynolds would go on to appear in over 100 titles throughout his career including the wildly successful films Smokey and The Bandit, White Lightning, The Longest Yard, and Boogie Nights. Over his extensive career, he has won an Emmy and two Golden Globes award as well as being nominated for an Academy Award in 1998.

Apart from his success on stage and in film, Burt Reynolds has spent a great deal of time and energy supporting his local community on the Treasure Coast. Over the past decades, Reynolds has been a vibrant element of the town of Jupiter and beyond, creating and facilitating the Burt Reynolds Institute of Film and Theatre, which provides classes and educational opportunities for aspiring actors, as well as having a local park named in his honor. Now, the incredibly talented actor and home town hero comes to the Lyric stage for another night of film lore and laughs.
