Contemporary Jazz Musicians New Take on Christmas Classics Becomes Martin County Holiday Tradition

This December, jazz guitarist Peter White returns to The Lyric Theatre for
another year of A Peter White Christmas featuring Rick Braun and Mindi Abair, a holiday show that has become a Christmas tradition for many families in the Martin County area. Accompanied by multi-instrumentalist and trumpet player Rick Braun and White’s longtime saxophonist and vocalist Mindi Abair, Peter White will perform some of the holiday season’s most recognizable tunes, including “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Greensleeves.” Although White is a guitarist, he first received international attention as a keyboardist when the jazz musician toured with singer-songwriter Al Stewart. Following the tour, White and Stewart collaborated to produce the 1976 hit “Year of the Cat.” Since then, White has released over 13 albums. His latest album, Here We Go, marks the musician’s first recording with acclaimed saxophonist David Sanborn. Over the years, A Peter White Christmas has become a holiday staple at The Lyric Theatre, giving Martin County residents an alternative to the more traditional Christmas concert. Back again this year, A Peter White Christmas featuring Rick Braun and Mindi Abair is on December 12th, 2014 at 6:00pm & 8:30pm.Tickets are available online at www.LyricTheatre.com or through The Lyric Box
Office at (772) 286-7827.

The Bronx Wanderers are Back!!!

New York vocal ensemble, The Bronx Wanderers, will perform Merry Bronxmas with The Bronx Wanderers this December at The Lyric Theatre. Known for contemporizing songs of the 1950s and 60s, The Bronx Wanderers will update their act for the Christmas season, performing doo wop versions of holiday classics such as “Jingle Bells” and “Winter Wonderland.” Originally a Dion tribute band, the Wanderers developed into a five-person vocal group that synthesizes modern popular music and mid-20th century ballads. Although the group initially featured band members Yo’ Vinny and his sons, Vinny the Kid and Nicky Stix, The Bronx Wanderers have expanded to include guitarist Jimmy Fracassi and saxophonist John Tutino. The group typically covers songs by musicians as varied as KC & the Sunshine Band, the Bee Gees, Bob Seger, and even Coldplay. For their holiday show, the Wanderers will focus on reinterpreting Christmas tunes including “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Run Rudolph Run.” Merry Bronxmas with The Bronx Wanderers comes to The Lyric Theatre on December 15th and 16th at 6:00pm & 8:30pm.
