ERAF Presents

Mustangs Film

Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation is pleased to present a special screening of “The Mustangs: America’s Wild Horses.” The feature documentary film is executive produced by Robert Redford, Patti Scialfa Springsteen, and Jessica Springsteen.

"The Mustangs: America's Wild Horses" takes audiences on an odyssey throughout America to places few people have seen or even know about. There are more than 80,000 wild horses on our federal lands and more than 50,000 in government corrals.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Philipps says, "The wild horse is so ingrained in the American imagination that even for those who have never seen one know what it stands for: fierce independence, unbridled freedom, the bedrock ideals of the nation. From car ads to high school mascots, the wild horse - popularly known as the mustang - is the enduring icon of America. But in modern times it has become entangled in controversy and bureaucracy, and now its future is in question."

Executive Producer Robert Redford says, "America's wild horses are fighting their last stand. Increasing competition for our natural resources threatens our wilderness areas, our wild horses and other wildlife species. Horses are interwoven into the very fabric of what is America. What threatens them threatens us all."

This film will make you fall in love with America all over again and understand why the protection of our wild horses and our public lands are worth fighting for.

The film features songs by Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson and an original song written by Diane Warren and performed by Blanco Brown.

Founded in 2000, Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation (ERAF) is 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abused, slaughter-bound, surrendered, abandoned, and neglected horses, donkeys, and mules.

ERAF works closely with law enforcement and animal care and control units to identify at risk horses and remove them from dangerous environments. Our team of dedicated professionals, staff, supporters, and volunteers work to rehabilitate and care for these magnificent beings so they may find a new chapter in a loving adoptive home.

Located in Palm City, Florida, ERAF has rescued more than 450 equines and successfully completed more than 425 adoptions. ERAF receives no government funding and is completely dependent upon private donors and foundations, grants, fundraising events, wills, and bequests to support our programs and services.

ERAF is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) and Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA), is an ASPCA The Right Horse Adoption Partner, and an EQUUS Guardian. ERAF is a GuideStar Gold-rated charity.

Through education, training, volunteerism, and industry collaborations we endeavor to provide a foundation for horses and humans to form meaningful partnerships. We strive to create, promote, and participate in the innovations, advocacies, and collaborations that promote and demonstrate the positive benefits of equines in the community.
