Salvatore Licitra
It didn’t take Salvatore Licitra long after making his professional debut in 1998 in Un Ballo in Maschera at Parma’s Teatro Regio to establish himself as one of the world’s most highly sought-after Italian dramatic tenors. In 2002, when Licitra stepped in on short notice for legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti at the Metropolitan Opera, he earned a prolonged standing ovation from the sold-out audience. The Associated Press hailed the debut as “the most triumphant in recent memory.”
Today, Licitra is a frequent guest at major opera and concert stages throughout Europe, the United States and Japan. His repertory includes Verdi’s Aida, Un Ballo in Maschera, La Forza del Destino and Il Trovatore, as well as Puccini’s Tosca, Bellini’s Norma, Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvrer, Giordano’s Andrea Chenier and Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana.
