Xiayin Wang
"Even for the most gifted young pianist, it takes a lot to be noticed . . . Xiayin Wang is clearly doing something right.” – Steve Smith, The New York Times

An artist with a winning combination of superb musicianship, personal verve and riveting technical brilliance, pianist Xiayin Wang conquers the hearts of audiences wherever she appears.  As a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist, she has achieved a high level of recognition for her commanding performances.

Wang, who has been hailed as “a paragon of virtuosity” The Washington Post, began her piano studies at the age of five in her native China.  She trained at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and continued her studies in the United States at the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor, Master and Professional Studies degrees.

Wang has performed to universal acclaim throughout China, Europe and the United States in such renowned venues as Shanghai Concert Hall, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.  Her recordings showcase her unique interpretations of wide-ranging compositions by Mozart, Ravel, Bach, Scriabin and the Gershwin arrangements of legendary piano virtuoso Earl Wild.

Wang is lauded for her technical brilliance, but she considers the heart of the music to be the most important part of any performance.  “I would totally go with the idea that you play music with heart,” she says. “Technique serves the heart.  Technique serves the music.  It cannot be any more important.”
