The Lyric Theatre Presents

Davy Jones in Concert

There will be plenty of Monkee-ing around when Davy Jones performs at the Lyric, backed by his six-piece band.  You can expect to hear Jones’ original compositions, along with a selection of Monkee favorites, including “Daydream Believer,” “Vallerie,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “Stepping Stone” and “Little Bit Me.”

The British-born Jones began his career at 11 years old, when he landed a role on the soap opera, “Coronation Street.”  From there, he went on to play the Artful Dodger in London’s West End production of “Oliver!”  He found himself the toast of New York when he replicated that role on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award at the age of 16.

It wasn’t until he starred in the Emmy Award-winning television classic, “The Monkees,” however, that Jones became a household name – and the heartthrob of legions of adoring teen fans worldwide.  The show, which was created as a take-off on the Beatles movie, “A Hard Day’s Night,” featured the foibles of a four-piece rock n’ roll band, interspersed with original tunes that quickly became hits, including “I’m a Believer” and “Last Train to Clarksville.”

In addition to continuing his acting and music careers today, Jones is an accomplished writer, storyteller and motivational speaker.  He also finds time to ride and train racehorses, a life-long passion.  A resident of the Treasure Coast, Jones is renowned as someone who gives back to the community, and is generous with his time and support of charitable causes.  This is his first appearance in concert at the Lyric.
