Flamenco Express
Flamenco Express brings the fire and beauty of flamenco to the Lyric in a show that combines classical, modern and traditional rhythms into one high-energy performance.
Lead dancer Jessica Pacheco and choreographer/lead dancer Jose Junco and their troupe of six dancers and three instrumentalists/singers will present some of the hottest music and dance from around the world. You can expect classical Spanish pieces from Carmen and La Vida Breve, traditional flamenco dances like Farruca, Alegrias and Sevillanas, and rumba hits such as Bamboleo and Volare. They’ll even showcase how flamenco dancing works with modern music, including Glora Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”!
Pacheco and Junco have performed together for over 15 years, touring worldwide with prestigious classical, modern and traditional flamenco dance companies. They founded Flamenco Express in 2000, and quickly became favorite headliners on such prestigious cruise lines as Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. Flamenco Express has also performed in Spain, Germany, Poland, Ecuador and Puerto Rico.
Wearing beautiful authentic costumes, the Flamenco Express dancers incorporate various concepts, rhythms and moves into the traditional flamenco art form, in a performance of incredible passion and grace.
