The Lyric Theatre Presents

RICHARD MARX IN CONCERT

When Richard Marx kicked off his solo act in 1987, he immediately hit the charts with his single, “Don’t Mean Nothing.”  And that was just the start of a record-setting career.  From 1987 to 1990, he became the first male solo artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the top five on Billboard’s singles chart, including the chart-topping hits, “Hold On to the Nights,” “Satisfied” and the worldwide classic, “Right Here Waiting.”

Marx remained a fixture on the pop and adult contemporary radio for decades, selling over 30 million records with CDs like the double-platinum “Rush Street” (featuring the single “Hazard”) and the platinum selling “Paid Vacation.”  The latter recording’s single “Now and Forever” went top 10 on the Billboard Pop chart and spent 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard AC chart.

What isn’t as well known about Marx is his renown as a top producer and song writer.  He’s worked with such powerhouse performers as Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, *NSYNC, Vince Gill, Sarah Brightman, Kenny Loggins . . . and the wide-ranging list goes on and on.

Marx has also penned 13 number one songs, for himself and others.  Notable hits include “Better Life,” which he co-wrote with Keith Urban, and “Dance With My Father,” which he composed with the late Luther Vandross.  “Dance,” which was performed by Vandross, won a GRAMMY for Song of the Year in 2004.   To spend an evening with Richard Marx is to savor time with one of the music industry’s most formidable and lasting talents.
