SOLD OUT ~ The Doo Wop Project

Featuring the stars of the Broadway hit musical Jersey Boys, Doo Wop Project explores the doo wop style from its roots to its modern manifestations, with songs from the Belmonts and the Crests to Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson. Starring many of Broadway’s most talented new performers, Doo Wop Project gives the doo wop classics a contemporary style while putting an old-fashioned twist on the hits of today.

Doo Wop Project originated backstage at the legendary August Wilson Theatre on Broadway. Its creation was inspired by the recent success of Broadway musicals that feature nostalgic vocal harmonies, such as Jersey Boys. Doo Wop Project stars many current and former performers from some of Broadway’s biggest shows, including Beautiful, Motown: The Musical, and Jersey Boys. The young and vibrant cast cover a variety of genres, from rock and pop songs to classic doo wop hits of the 1950s and ‘60s like The Channels’ “That’s My Desire” and The Capris’ “Morse Code of Love.” Also included are contemporary pop classics including Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” and Amy Winehouse’s cover of “Valerie.” In addition to their vocal performances, the members of Doo Wop Project cast tell stories of their experiences working on Broadway, fusing storytelling with singing.

Honoring the classics while giving 21st century tunes a retro spin, Doo Wop Project appeals to music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. Always a popular show at The Lyric Theatre, Doo Wop Project is back to perform some of your favorite hits from Smokey Robinson, The Beach Boys, to Jason Mraz and more.
