The Music of Billy Joel ~ Tony Monaco and Turnstiles

How does a young man like Tony Monaco become the nations top Billy Joel Tribute concert? The answer is when you’re 13 years old you take the talent that your musician father Pat Monaco nurtured and you win national awards playing the guitar! Tony’s attention then turned to playing the Hammond Organ and from there the piano. His love of the piano lead him to the world renowned jazz pianist Dave Frank. Dave was Tony’s teacher and he suggested that Tony listen to the piano work of Billy Joel! That was the beginning.

Tony created his own band and opened for Foreigner, Juice Newton, Orleans and from this experience came his Tribute to Billy Joel! Great artists tend to surround themselves with talented musicians. Tony has an amazing band in the Turnstiles. These pro’s have studied the sounds of Billy Joel’s band and as such, the sound you hear is the sound that made Billy Joel one of the biggest selling music stars ever. This past year Tony and the Turnstiles have taken this fantastic tribute nationwide from the Catskills to New Jersey to Pittsburgh with major appearances that truly have made this show a musical treat to the ears.
