The only thing better than Broadway is rockin’ Broadway, and The Diamonds will rock the house with a high-energy musical revue that salutes the best of the Great White Way and the best of rock and roll.

The Diamonds burst onto the scene in 1957 with a little hit called “Little Darlin.’” Dubbed “The National Anthem of Rock and Roll,” it sold more than 20 million copies and went gold. The Diamonds had two other gold records for “The Stroll” and “Silhouettes.” The group appeared on American Bandstand 33 times and was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Doo Wop Hall of Fame.

For baritone Gary Owens, who joined The Diamonds in 1973 and does much of the vocal arranging for the group, keeping the sound of The Diamonds was the most important thing. “Our goal has always been to keep that classic Diamonds’ sound intact,” he said. “Although The Diamonds are four distinct individuals, we have created a strong group personality. The four of us as a unit have a special chemistry and it is that chemistry that gives us our unique identity.”

In addition to Owens, The Diamonds include Adam David Marino, Michael Lawrence and Jeff Dolan. Marino attended Nazareth College, studying musical theater, and has appeared in regional theaters across the United States. Lawrence has a bachelor’s degree in musical theater and toured as the lead singer on the Holland-American Cruise Line for several years. Dolan was a member of the Dapper Dans of Disneyland and has a Grammy Award singing with the Phoenix Chorale.

Let’s Rock Broadway has The Diamonds singing their big hits as well as more than 50 songs taken from musicals like Jersey Boys, Motown-The Musical, Rock of Ages, Grease, Mamma Mia, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Medleys also celebrate the work of some of the greatest groups and singers of all time, including Elvis, Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Bobby Darin and Queen. There is truly something for every taste.

Audiences have loved the high-octane show and presenters have taken note. Paul Hoverman, coordinator of performing arts for the Van Wert County Foundation, had high praise. “I have been presenting concerts at this series for seven years and this might be the best.”

If you love Broadway and you love classic rock, come see it taken to a new level. It’s classic Broadway and rock and roll with today’s attitude.

It’s a Diamond cut above.
