Aretha Franklin was one-of-a kind. The Queen of Soul won 18 Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She was the first female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2019, she was awarded a posthumous special citation for her contributions to American culture and music by the Pulitzer Prize jury.

That’s a tough act to follow. It takes the pipes of Alfreda Gerald, an international singing star who has performed and toured with Cher, Celine Dion, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Yanni and Warren Haynes. She has performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Madison Square Garden, The Sydney Opera House, The Acropolis, and Wembley Stadium in England. In 2021, she released the single, “Broken Promised Land,” written by Warren Haynes, singer and guitarist for The Allman Brothers and produced and arranged by Trammell Starks of the London Symphony Orchestra.

In her show, Alfreda Sings Aretha!, she brings her soaring vocals, along with three female back-up singers, a four-piece rhythm section and three-piece horn section. The result is recognized by musicians and music producers around the world.

“Alfreda always delivers a great performance,” said Matt Still, the Grammy-winning engineer and producer for Elton John. “She not only has incredible power and range, but she’s also amazingly creative, as well. When I need a soulful voice, she’s my first call.”

That sentiment was echoed by Spencer Bean, music director for Gladys Knight and the Pips. “Alfreda Gerald represents in good taste the full magnitude of Aretha Franklin’s contribution to music over the decades,” he said. “The musical tribute to Aretha that Alfreda Gerald has is one you don’t want to miss. I’m always inspired from the show.”
If you love the Queen of Soul, love great singing and production values and want to hear a voice that will lift you up, look no further. Think about the great songs and come hear a singer who gives them the RESPECT they deserve.
