The Lyric Theatre Presents

Joshua Bell

Universally acclaimed classical music superstar Joshua Bell returns to the Lyric for what is certain to be another sold-out performance.

Grammy Award-winner Bell has enchanted audiences worldwide with his breathtaking virtuosity on the violin and his command of a wide-ranging repertoire.  Highlights of his 2009-2010 season illustrate his versatility, including engagements with the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, the Czestochowa Philharmonic, the Russian National Orchestra and The National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.  In 2010, Bell’s recital tour throughout Europe and the United States featured concerts in such renowned performance venues as Carnegie Hall, Disney Hall and the Wigmore Hall in London.

Bell has released over three dozen recordings.  His richly varied catalogue was most recently augmented with the release of “Joshua Bell at Home with Friends,” featuring collaborations with Chris Botti, Sting, Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth, Anoushka Shankar, Marvin Hamlish and more.  Other recent releases include “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons,” “Red Violin Concerto,” “The Essential Joshua Bell,” and the soundtracks for “Angels & Demons” and “Defiance.”

Bell’s “Romance of the Violin” was named by Billboard as the 2004 Classical CD of the year, and Bell was named Classical Artist of the Year.  He is also the recipient of the 2008 Academy of Achievement Award for exceptional accomplishment in the arts.

When describing the power and passion of Bell’s performances, perhaps CNN.com said it best:  “When the voice of Joshua Bell’s violin speaks, the world will always listen.”
