TOM RUSH
“Tom Rush – the man with the golden ear, the comforting voice, the supple guitar and the craftsman’s pen – has given us a gift worth waiting for.” – Amazon.com
Tom Rush is a gifted musician and performer, whose shows offer a musical celebration . . . a journey into the spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become. His shows are filled with the rib-aching laughter of terrific story telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him a legend around the world.
Rush is known not only for his own inimitable compositions (“No Regrets,” “Urge for Going”) but for his knack of discovering new talent – including Joni Mitchell, Jackson Brown and James Taylor. He has been credited by both Taylor and Garth Brooks as an important musical influence.
In 2009, Rush recorded his first studio CD in 35 years, “What I Know.” The album, featuring harmonies by the likes of Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Bramlett and Nanci Griffith, received rave reviews.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch says, “A Tom Rush show is nothing more complex than a man, his guitar and his music. And absolutely nothing more is required.” With a voice that has grown even richer throughout the years, a warm and witty sense of humor, and the ageless character of his music, Tom Rush is a performer for all generations.
