The Lyric Theatre Presents

Vienna Chamber Orchestra

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra (Wiener KammerOrchester, or WKO) is a welcome guest at festivals and concert halls around the world, with a touring schedule that spans Europe, the United States, South America, Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea.
Pianist Philippe Entremont was the WKO’s chief conductor between 1976 and 1991, and he continues to lead the orchestra on tours and in its subscription concerts at the Vienna Konzerthaus.  Entremont, who now serves as WKO’s Honorary Conductor for Life, will be featured in this performance at the Lyric.  The Orchestra, which is one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras, was founded in 1946; its first artistic directors were Franz Litschauer, Heinrich Hollreiser, Paul Angerer and Carlo Zecchi.  Stefan Vladar became artistic director in 2008, and continues in that role today.
