The Lyric Theatre Presents

The Kingston Trio Christmas

In the 50s and 60s, the Kingston Trio brought American folk music to the mainstream, topping the charts again and again with hits like “Tom Dooley,” “Scotch and Soda,” “Tijuana Jail,” “Hard, Ain’t It Hard” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.”
With their tight harmonies and light calypso sounds, they transformed folk music into a hot commodity, introducing the genre to millions of new listeners and ultimately paving the way for artists like Joan Baez and Peter, Paul & Mary. Today’s Trio consists of lead Bill Zorn, veteran George Grove and Rick Dougherty, who continue to delight audiences throughout the country with great songs that sound as good today as they did over 50 years ago. Their holiday concert at the Lyric will take you down memory lane with a repertoire of Trio hits, and will also feature their signature spin on several yuletide classics.
