The Lyric Theatre Presents

Ann Hampton Callaway

Ann Hampton Callaway has made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress and producer.  Her unique singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in theaters and concert halls throughout the world.

Of Callaway, Jazz & Blues Report writes, “She truly dwells in a tune, so expressively delivering lyrics that you may feel you’re hearing some well-worn standards for the first time.”  A gifted improviser, Callaway takes audiences on a musical journey, bringing a strong theatrical sense to her performances.

Callaway is best known for her Tony-nominated role in the hit Broadway musical “Swing!”  She has performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, and over 25 of the world’s top orchestras and big bands.  Callaway has also produced and hosted two television specials with Liza Minnelli and Christine Ebersole.

Callaway, a Platinum Award-winning composer, is the only songwriter to have collaborated with Cole Porter.  She has also co-written with Carole King, Rolf Lovland and Barbara Carroll.

Callaway’s concerts showcase her warmth, spontaneous wit and passionate delivery of standards, jazz classics and originals.  Her performance for this year’s Ovation Concert Series is sure to include selections from her latest CD, “At Last,” which she describes as “love songs for adults.”
