Prepare to be swept away by the richly melodic sounds of the Marcos Vega Quintet, featuring the musical mastery of Vega himself on the Paraguayan harp.

Vega has been delighting listeners for decades with his signature style and unique playing technique on what is now the most popular folk harp in the world. He has performed for dignitaries, presidents and heads of government, and has toured throughout the United States, Mexico and Central and South America.

Vega’s concert at the Lyric will include a wide range of musical fare, from theatrical selections (“Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “A Time for Us”) to well-known standards (“Somewhere My Love,” “What a Wonderful World”) to international tunes (such as “Memories of Paraguay” – “Recordando Paraguay” and “Malaguena”) and original Vega compositions.

Accompanying Vega will be members of his quintet, each a celebrated artist in his own right: Grammy Award-winning arranger/vocalist/bass guitarist Paul Hoyle; Clark Hower on jazz guitar, Roget Pontbriand on jazz trumpet, and Rey Monroig on drums and percussion. The Marcos Vega Quintet’s “Tour of World Music” promises to be a delight from start to finish!
